Houston Downtown Management District

Commuters

The Houston Downtown Management District has supported alternative commuting methods for employees resulting in 78.57% of employees utilizing a commute alternative on an average of 4.75 days a week. The organization provides $115/mo for transportation that the employee can use for a parking space or transit. The organization also provides the option of pre-tax transit/vanpool deduction and provides secure bicycle racks, showers, and/or lockers.

PFC Energy

PFC Energy has supported employees’ use of commute alternatives, allowing 30% of employees to telecommute an unlimited number of days a week and by providing flexible work schedules where able. PFC Energy has bicycle facilities, offers proximate commute, on-site amenities, and provides membership in a car sharing program.

St. Luke’s Episcopal Health System

St. Luke’s Episcopal Health System supports commute alternatives for employees. 40% of employees are on a 3/12 schedule, 2% of employees telework one day a week, a $70-$100 monthly transit/vanpool incentive is utilized by 20-25% of employees, $70 a month in parking cash out is received by approximately 30-35% of employees.

ETC

ETC supports alternative commuting: Approximately 95% of employees are offered compressed work weeks and approximately 85% work a 9/80. 5% of employees telecommute once every other week and ETC offers flexible hours where appropriate to the job.

Novus Wood Group

Novus Wood Group has adopted policies to promote the use of lower emitting construction equipment, has accelerated fleet turnover for one heavy-duty vehicle and two light-duty vehicles, and has promoted the use of alternative fuels that reduce NOx emissions by powering 1 heavy duty and 2 light duty vehicles with CNG, and have purchased CNG tucks for employees to commute in. Novus Wood Group has established a CNG fueling station in the south part of Houston at the intersection of 45 south and beltway 8 and the station is open for fleet fueling.

Aramco Services Company

Aramco Services Company has supported commute alternatives for employees reducing 24,960 employee work trips in the past year with an average length of 40 miles. In the past year approximately 22% of employees have used a commute alternative an average of 5 days a week. All employees are offered compressed work weeks with 95% working 9/80s.

The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston

The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston has supported commute alternatives for employees, reducing 56,582 employee work trips in the past year with an average length of 23.44 miles. In the past year approximately 54.5 % of employees have utilized commute alternatives 5 days a week.

Jetco Delivery, LLC

Jetco Delivery, LLC has accelerated fleet turnover for at least 50 heavy and medium duty vehicles, adopted vehicles maintenance procedures for its fleet which focus on decreasing emissions, and has become an EPA designated SmartWay Partner in January 2010. Jetco carefully reviews truck routes to ensure that they travel the least possible miles while at the same time maintaining full compliance with all laws affecting route and where practical, they combine loads.

Steve Hoade Trucking, Inc

Steve Hoade Trucking, Inc has adopted clean fleet policies for on-road vehicles, in the process of accelerating fleet turnover for one heavy duty vehicle, and has adopted a no idling policy affecting their fleet of 16 heavy duty vehicles that has been in place for 24 months. Steve Hoade Trucking, Inc has also established a policy and enforcement resolution that employees must bundle trips that has been in place for 48 months.

Petit Café Mediterranean Grill

Over the past year approximately 10% of employees at Petit Café and Mediterranean Grill have utilized a commute alternative an average of 3 days a week. Petit Café is a NuRide sponsor and offers flexible work schedules. Petite Café also provides employees with a meal, donates restaurant gift cards to transportation outreach events, and provides and displays transit information and schedules for employees and patrons.

Fast Trac Transportation, Inc.

Fast Trac Transportation, Inc. has adopted a non idling-policy and enforcement resolution affecting 34 heavy duty vehicles, 65 medium duty vehicles, and 33 light duty vehicles which have been in place for 24 months. They offer extensive driver training on fuel conservation and vehicle maintenance, over 24 individual online training modules dealing with topics such as: alternatives to idling, cargo distribution, fuel optimization, etc.

Humble Independent School District

Humble Independent School District has adopted clean fleet policies for both on-road and off-road vehicles and equipment, accelerated fleet turnover of at least 34 medium duty vehicles, and has powered 30 medium duty vehicles with propane and natural gas. Humble ISD has adopted a no idling policy and enforcement resolution that effect 274 medium duty vehicles and 226 light duty vehicles these policies have been in place for 30 months, and has established CNG infrastructure. They continue to seek ways to both promote and implement cleaner fleet operations. Their next project will be to convert 22 diesel engines to CNG.

Sprint Waste Services

Sprint Waste Services has adopted clean fleet policies for both on-road and off-road vehicles and equipment, adopted policies to promote the use of lower emitting construction equipment, and accelerated the turnover of at least 10 heavy duty vehicles. Sprint Waste Services have also adopted a no idling policy and enforcement resolution affecting 110 heavy duty vehicles which has been in place for 24 months. Sprint Waste Services will provide fleet support for natural gas infrastructure via 5 natural gas trucks.

Waller Independent School District Transportation Department

Waller Independent School District has installed 30 clean air engine retrofits on heavy duty vehicles, and has adopted a no-idling policy affecting a fleet of 90 heavy duty vehicles and 22 light duty vehicles which has been in place for 96 months.

Clear Creek Independent School District

Clear Creek ISD has accelerated fleet turnover for at least 11 heavy duty vehicles, promoted the use of alternative fuels by powering 43 heavy duty vehicles with natural gas, and has adopted an anti-idling policy affecting a fleet of 284 heavy duty vehicles that has been in place for 56 months. Through a private grant CCISD has built a fueling facility to fuel 43 CNG buses. CCISD now operates 54 CNG buses that are fuelled at this facility.

International Trucks of Houston

International Trucks of Houston has adopted clean fleet policies for on-road vehicles, adopted vehicle maintenance procedures which decrease emissions, and has adopted a no idling policy.

J.A.M.

J.A.M. has adopted clean fleet policies for on-road and off-road vehicles and equipment, adopted policies to promote the use of lower emitting construction equipment, accelerated fleet turnover for 54 heavy duty vehicles and 26 light duty vehicles, and has powered 35 heavy duty vehicles and 20 medium duty vehicles for two years with PuriNox. J.A.M. has also installed three tug boat engine retrofits on 3 heavy duty vehicles, and has provided PuriNox diesel fuel to the Houston area, and has replaced all in house forklifts with TERP propane driven lifts.

Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) Houston District

Over the past year the TxDOT Houston District has supported alternative commuting methods for employees, with 287 employees having reduced work trips with an average round trip length of 46 miles. Approximately 40% of employees have utilized an alternative to SOV commuting an average of 3 days a week and approximately 30% of employees work a 9-80 schedule. They encourage participation in the NuRide program, provide preferred parking or reduced parking costs for carpools and vanpools, provide flexible schedules where possible, and have an employee recognition program that promotes alternative commuting and which provides incentives, such as extra vacation time, to employees for using alternative transportation.

Rush Truck Center, Houston

Rush Truck Center has accelerated fleet turnover for 15 heavy duty vehicles and has adopted clean fleet policies for on road and off road vehicles and equipment. Rush Truck Centers is the largest commercial vehicle dealer group in North America with over 100 facilities in the US.

Halliburton

Halliburton has supported alternative commuting measures for employees with 4% of employees utilizing commute alternatives five days a week. Halliburton provides $110 subsidy per van per month, and approximately 200 employees utilize this benefit. Halliburton promotes NuRide, has preferred parking for vanpools, provides flexible hours where possible, and has worksite amenities.

EDP Renewables North America LLC

EDP Renewable North America LLC supports alternative commuting methods, offering a number of benefits which serve to reduce single occupancy vehicle commuting.

ASAP Masonry Supply, Inc.

ASAP Masonry Supply, Inc supports alternative commuting methods for employees, with 20% of employees reducing trips averaging 20 miles in length, 5 days a week.

NASA Johnson Space Center (JSC)

NASA Johnson Space Center promote commute alternatives, by allowing telecommuting, advertising NuRide and are in the process of installing showers for cyclists in new LEED buildings. JSC has installed an electric car charging station in one of the platinum LEED parking lots, offers preferred parking for vanpools, and offers flexible schedules where feasible. Employees have reduced almost 9,000 trips averaging 26.9 miles over the past year.

Mustang Trucking Co.

Mustang Trucking Co. has adopted clean fleet policies for on road and off road vehicles and equipment, accelerated fleet turnover for 2 heavy duty vehicles, and has powered 5 light duty vehicles with propane. Mustang Trucking Co. has adopted a no idling policy for their heavy duty vehicles that has been in place for 12 months and an enforcement resolution that has been in place for 3 months.

FBI Houston

The Houston FBI office offers a variety of benefits to encourage employees to utilize commute alternatives. More than 20% of employees who can utilize commute alternatives do so. Last year FBI employee reduced over 5,000 trips averaging 28 miles in length.

Stage Stores, Inc. dba Palais Royal

Stage Stores, Inc dba Palais Royal has supported alternative commuting for employees, in the past year employees have reduced 3,000 work trips with an average length of 32 miles. Approximately 7% of employees have utilized non-sov commuting an average of 4-5 days a week. In Houston they provide $300 per month towards the cost of vanpool or transit, and approximately 20 employees utilize this benefit.

Davenport Transport & Rigging LLC

Davenport Transport and Rigging LLC has adopted Clean Fleet Policies for on-road vehicles, accelerated fleet turnover for 3 heavy duty vehicles, adopted maintenance procedures which focus on decreasing emissions, adopted a no-idling policy, and has established a policy and enforcement resolution requiring employees to bundle trips that have been in place for 18 months. The sales team uses fuel efficient cars in place of trucks when possible.

Harvey Gulf International Marine, LLC

Harvey Gulf International is building a new class of dual fueled LNG-powered offshore supply vessels (OSV’s) which are among the first to be classed under the ABS Guide for Propulsion and Auxiliary Systems for Gas Fueled Ships. These vessels will be the first dual fueled LNG-powered vessels under US flag. Harvey Gulf International has four DP-2 rated Dual Fuel Supply Vessels on order, with options for two more.
