Fort Bend County Emergency Medical Service officially began operations in April of 1972, following action taken by Commissioners Court. In May of that year, the newly created department, joined by a small group of dedicated employees, began responding to calls for service, In the years that followed, the area served by Fort Bend County EMS experienced a phenomenal increase in population.

Today, twelve (12) M.I.C.U. (Mobile Intensive Care Unit) Ambulances and one (1) Squad Unit, stocked with the latest advancements in pre-hospital equipment and staffed with highly skilled paramedic personnel, stand ready to respond during any hour of the day or night, all year long.
Throughout the rich history of Fort Bend County Emergency Medical Service, excellence in patient care has been the steady focus of every employee. The department has received awards and honors from various associations.
