Beginning November 5, 2014, Map Clearance Tax Certificate requests must be accompanied by current year account numbers certified by the Fort Bend Central Appraisal District. Fort Bend County Tax Office has teamed with Fort Bend Central Appraisal District to develop a completely electronic and paperless system to expedite processing of these requests. Tax Office staff will no longer attempt to identify the parent accounts.
Your first interaction will be with Fort Bend Central Appraisal District. Log into FBCAD’s new plat website https://plats.fbcad.org where your organization will be required to register and will receive a User ID that is specific to your firm. This User ID will be used for all future requests. Once you receive the User ID you may submit an electronic version of your plat. Fort Bend County Tax Office will be notified by email of your map submission. Once the Appraisal District identifies the account numbers they will notify you and the Tax Office of the account numbers. The Fort Bend Central Appraisal District plat website will explain the full process and has contact information if you need assistance.
After the Tax Office receives the email from the Appraisal District confirming the account numbers, the Tax Office will notify you by email of the amount due for the TC(s) along with a Master Account Number. You must use this Master Account Number to pay the charges online. You may pay by credit card, convenience fee of 2.09% or minimum of $1.00 will apply, or by E-check at no fee.
You will need to notify the Tax Office at firstname.lastname@example.org once the payment is made so we can begin the research. The Tax Certificates(s) and the Review Form will be emailed to you and the Fort Bend County Engineer's office in no less than five days after payment is submitted.
The Tax Certificates will no longer have the embossed County Seal, only a signature. The Tax Certificate we email will be considered the original. We will no longer charge for duplicates as you can print out another original if you need one.
If you have any questions, please call our office at 281-341-3710 and ask for the Research Department.
