We are warning the public of scam phone calls where individuals are stating they are with the Fort Bend County Clerk’s Office and somehow using our number. The caller is telling people to “pay a debt or the police will come get them.” A representative from the Fort Bend County Clerk’s Office DOES NOT call to collect debts.
Jim Hooter Merrill, Jr. was convicted of Driving While Intoxicated with an Open Container on July 20, 2017 after the jury deliberated for approximately an hour. Presiding Judge Ron Cohen then sentenced the 48-year old Sugar Land man to a yearlong probation. Merrill was charged with the crime in 2013 after driving by a highway patrolman with a broken headlight.

County Court at Law #4 Presiding Judge Jerry Bussell convicted Alan Henderson of Driving While Intoxicated on June 29, 2017 after a trial before the Court. The 27-year-old Missouri City man was charged with the crime after being stopped for speeding on Highway 90 in 2012.
A jury convicted Caleb Fonseca of Burglary of a Vehicle in only 20 minutes on May 18, 2017. The 20-year-old Rosenberg man was subsequently sentenced to almost a year in jail in an agreement with prosecutors.
434th District Court Judge James H. Shoemake sentenced Samia Alam Quddusi to four years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice – Institutional Division on June 9, 2017. A jury convicted the defendant of felony Theft on April 21, 2017 after a weeklong trial. The 24 year-old Sugar Land woman stole over $40,000 from her employer in 2014. Quddusi requested the court to determine her punishment and the case was reset to for the judge to consider a presentence investigation report.
We are, sadly, once again at the point with our shelter where we are beyond capacity and are struggling to take in even one more pet.
The Fort Bend County Commissioner’s Court has taken action in accordance with Local Government Code 234 to regulate auto salvage and wrecking yards. The action will require screening standards and an annual license issued through the Fire Marshal’s Office.
Recently, there have been news reports about alleged hacking and phishing attempts by foreign Nationals of U.S. voter registration systems.

Jacob Daniel Flores was convicted of Driving While Intoxicated by a jury on March 16, 2017 before being sentenced by County Court at Law No. 5 Presiding Judge Ronald Cohen a day later. The 31-year old Richmond man was arrested after crashing into an off-duty police officer while driving the wrong way on Highway 90-A over two years ago.
Robert Bradley Jones was convicted of Driving While Intoxicated – 2nd Offense by a jury on February 22, 2017 after deliberating for approximately an hour and a half. Presiding Judge Jeffrey A. McMeans then sentenced the 49-year old Richmond man to 30 days in the county jail. Jones was charged with the crime in 2015 after drawing the attention of a Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Deputy with his erratic driving near the intersection of Hwy. 90-A and Pitts Road.
Aik Shii Wong was sentenced to a 12-month probation by County Court at Law No. 4 Judge R. H. “Sandy” Bielstein on January 31, 2017 after a jury convicted him of Driving While Intoxicated. The 37-year-old Sugar Land man was arrested after police witnessed him driving recklessly in the Sugar Land Town Square area in September of 2013.
A Fort Bend County jury convicted Andrea Watson Davidson of felony Theft in less than 10 minutes on February 3, 2017 before recommending she spend 28 years in prison. The 49-year-old Mission Bend woman was charged with stealing millions of dollars from her employer over several years as their bookkeeper.
