How does the Fire Marshal's Office determine if a business is a Salvage Yard?

Inspector/Investigators from the Fire Marshal's Office will visit the location and using the flow chart below (also included in the application packet above) they will conduct an inspection of the vehicles being stored and the fencing. If three or more wrecked vehicles (as defined in the ordinance) are being stored outside then the business is considered a Salvage Yard that must have a license and fencing that complies with the ordinance. If the business does not have a license or compliant fencing then citations can be issued.
