You should seek shelter immediately. Vehicles do not provide adequate shelter during a tornado. You should seek shelter in a sturdy building. The best place for you to shelter is in the interior room of a structure, on the bottom floor, a place without windows. In my house, we have a safe room that is made of concrete – it’s also a bathroom. We all go in the safe room and get into the bathtub when we hear tornado sirens or alerts on the news or weather radio. If there is no shelter available, lie flat in a ditch or low-lying area. Do not get under an overpass or bridge. You are safer in a low-flat place.
