Refunds
Any refunded or voided credit card transaction will be returned to the customer, minus the convenience fee.

Returned Checks and Card Chargebacks may result in a fee of $30.00 that will be applied to the case or account.
Outstanding court costs or charges must be paid immediately with a money order, cashier's check or cash.

Identity thieves have called and threatened persons for failing to report to jury service in various counties to receive money. Thieves asked for confidential information and claimed to be with the District Clerk's Office. These scammers are threatening jurors in an attempt to fraudulently receive money. DO NOT give them money or credit card information. The staff of the Fort Bend County District Clerk's Office will NEVER call you and ask for your Social Security Number, credit card numbers or other sensitive information. DO NOT give out such information to anyone who calls you that claims to be with the District Clerk's Office. If you have any doubts about a caller who claims to be from the Fort Bend County District Clerk's Office, please verify their identity before giving out information. |

DEFERRING YOUR JURY SERVICE
Please scan the QR Code on your jury summons or visit the eResponse website at https://www.fbctx.gov/jury-eresponse for information to defer your jury service. The questionnaire must be completed and submitted to receive the ability to defer your service. Once submitted, select "Defer Service".
BEFORE REPORTING FOR JURY SERVICE
You are instructed to check your status on the eResponse website at https://www.fbctx.gov/jury-eresponse or call (281) 972-2721 anytime after 5:00 PM the evening before you are scheduled to appear for service. The automated message will tell you if there has been a change in your jury service. It is sometimes necessary to cancel or reschedule a jury panel, so you MUST CALL to receive final instructions.

To claim an exemption or report your disqualification you must complete the juror questionnaire by visiting the eResponse website at https://www.fbctx.gov/jury-eresponse.
NOTE: You do not have to claim an exemption and may instead choose to serve. However, if you do not meet all of the qualifications, you MUST claim that you are disqualified. If you claim to be disqualified because you are not a resident of this county, you may become ineligible to vote in this county. If you state that you are not a U.S. citizen, you may no longer be eligible to vote if you fail to provide proof of U.S. citizenship to your county voter registrar.
JUROR'S RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Right to Reemployment
An employer may not discharge, threaten to discharge, intimidate, or coerce any permanent employee because the employee serves as a juror, or for the employee's attendance or scheduled attendance in connection with the service, in any court in the United States. An employee who is discharged, threatened with discharge, intimidated, or coerced in violation of this section is entitled to return to the same employment that the employee held when summoned for jury service if the employee, as soon as practical after release from jury service, gives the employer actual notice that the employee intends to return. (Civil Practice and Remedies Code, Section 122.001).
Failure to answer summons and Provisions of False Information
A person who fails to comply with this summons, or who knowingly provides false information in a request for an exemption or to be excused from jury service, is subject to a contempt action punishable by a fine of not less than $100 nor more than $1,000 (Government Code, Section 62.0141). Additionally, a person shall be fined not less than $100 nor more than $500 if the person: (1) fails to attend court in obedience to this summons without reasonable excuse; or (2) files a false claim of exemption from jury service. (Government Code, Section 62.111; see also Code of Criminal Procedure, Article 35.01).
Absent Juror Fined
A juror legally summoned, failing to attend without a reasonable excuse, may, by order of the court entered on the record, be fined not less than $100 or more than $500. (Code of Criminal Procedure Section 62.111, Article 19.16).
Proper Clothing Required
All persons entering the courtroom should be dressed in clothing reasonably befitting the dignity and solemnity of the court proceedings. Shorts may not be permitted. Courtrooms remain at 72 degrees all year round.
