Well wishes – all ages decorate a star and share your wishes, dreams and hopes for the future; all ages contribute to a time capsule; teens and adults enjoy a summer beverage while painting summer landscapes; teens and adults join Carmen Lambert of Sweet Crumb Bakeshop for a hands-on cupcake decorating class. Registration required for Paint & Sip and Cupcake-Decorating.

Paint & Sip is 11:00 AM - 12:30 PM.
Cupcake Decorating is 2:00 - 3:00 PM.

Event Description

This community celebration will feature local museums and cultural organizations, historical re-enactors portraying figures such as Thomas Jefferson and Davy Crockett, musical and dance performances, hands-on activities, and much more. Turning 250 will take place just down the street from the annual Pecan Harvest Festival, giving visitors the opportunity to enjoy both events and experience a full day of history, culture and family-friendly fun in historic Richmond.

Event Description

A beautiful display of 250 current U.S. flags with historical fact tags for each year attached to each flag. In addition, a banner with the Declaration of Independence will be displayed. We will also have multiple historical characters like Betsy Ross, George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Lady Liberty, and more. We will have yard games, cookies, lemonade, as well as patriotic music for attendees. At 10 am, we will have a brief ceremony. Sugar Land Mayor Carol McCutcheon and State Representative Suleman Lalani will provide remarks.

Event Description

We are offering contests for various age ranges May-June. There will be a coloring page contest for kids in Kindergarten-5th Grade, a poetry contest for kids in 6th-12th grade, and our annual EDC photo contest for anyone 16 & older. Prizes will be given to winners in each contest (1st-3rd). We will also announce the winners via social media and at a city council meeting on July 7.
