(FORT BEND, TX) — Fort Bend County Judge KP George will hold a press conference to announce the awarding of Regional Mitigation Funds from the Texas General Land Office (GLO). The press conference will take place on Tuesday, August 6, at 10:00 a.m., at the Fort Bend County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, located at 307 Fort St., Richmond, TX 77469.
Fort Bend County has been determined eligible by the GLO for Community Development Block Grant Mitigation (CDBG-MIT) funding. This funding will be allocated to several critical infrastructure projects designed to enhance flood resilience and improve community safety. The projects include:

Fort Bend County Judge KP George and FBC Central Appraisal District Announce Tax Disaster Exemptions for Residents Affected by Hurricane Beryl
(FORT BEND, TX) - Fort Bend County Judge KP George and The Fort Bend Central Appraisal District will hold a press conference to announce the availability of Tax Disaster Exemptions for Fort Bend County residents affected by the recent Major Disaster Declarations. The press conference will take place on Monday, July 22, at 11:30 a.m., at the Fort Bend County Office of Emergency Management, located at 307 Fort St., Richmond, TX 77469.
Properties physically impacted by the hurricane may be eligible to receive a temporary exemption under Tax Code Section 11.35. This exemption allows for a reduction in the appraised value of the property. Residents can find Form 50-312, Temporary Exemption Property Damaged by Disaster, on the FBCAD.org website on the “Forms” page under “Additional Exemptions.” Completed forms should be returned to the Appraisal District either in person, by US mail, or by email to info@fbcad.org.
On July 6, 2024, Governor Greg Abbott announced an update to the Major Disaster Declaration for Hurricane Beryl, which includes Fort Bend County. In response to the extensive damage caused by Hurricane Beryl, Fort Bend County filed its own Disaster Declaration on July 8, 2024. Furthermore, on July 9, 2024, President Biden issued a
Major Disaster Declaration for Texas, approving federal funding assistance for Fort Bend County.
Additionally, Governor Abbott also issued a Major Disaster Declaration for Tropical Storm Alberto on June 19, 2024, that included Fort Bend County, which will allow residents to apply for the exemption as well.
