Requirements

All couples must present the following items on their wedding day:

  1. Valid identification - see Acceptable Forms of ID [PDF]
  2. A valid marriage license

You may obtain a marriage licenses through the Fort Bend County Clerk, located at 301 Jackson St, Richmond, Texas 77469. Questions regarding marriage licenses should be directed to the Fort Bend County Clerk’s Office at (281) 341-8685. You can find more information here:

After couples have obtained their license, they may then schedule an appointment for their Wedding Ceremony with Judge KP George.

  • Courthouse weddings during office hours $200.00
  • Non-Courthouse weddings in Fort Bend County $400.00
  • Non-Courthouse weddings outside Fort Bend County $500.00

Payments must be made in cash.

General Information

  • Official witnesses are not required. However, friends and family are welcome. 
  • We ask for your understanding that the wedding is occurring in a busy office atmosphere and to please respect that you are entering a working office.
  • You must marry within 90 days of the date that you purchased your marriage license.
  • You can purchase your license in any county in the state of Texas and get married in any county in the state of Texas.
  • After your wedding ceremony, it is your responsibility to file your marriage license with the appropriate County Clerk.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) ceremonies are available upon request.

Special Notes:

Please be advised that wedding funds are donated to local non-profits as part of Judge George's vision to move Fort Bend Forward.

Mail Center

Mission Statement

The Mail Center is centralized at 301 Jackson Street, Richmond, Texas to receive and distribute U.S. mail, other correspondence, and packages for County departments no matter where they are physically located within the boundaries of Fort Bend County. The main location is in a secure area where the information received can be processed in a timely and efficient manner.

The Mail Center functions under the guidelines and rates of agencies licensed to collect the County’s mail and packages to begin the transit to its destination.

Our goal is to reduce and maintain the cost associated with processing the outgoing mail and packages County departments create daily.

Family Protection Fee Grant

Applicant Information

Fort Bend County Commissioners Court has authorized the adoption of a family protection fee set by statute as $15.00. The District Clerk collects this fee when someone files a suit for the dissolution of a marriage under Chapter 6, Family Code. The Fort Bend County Commissioners Court is seeking one non-profit organization located in Fort Bend County that provides direct services for the prevention or intervention against family violence or the abuse or neglect of a child. An agency that provides services through another third-party non-profit will not be eligible for the funds.

The amount of funding available for Fiscal Year 2023 is $9,559.65.

The FY 2023 application deadline is February 28, 2023.

* With the passing of Senate Bill 41, the fee set will no longer be collected.

Grants

Grants are one of the many ways Fort Bend County funds the programs and projects that serve our residents. In 2019, grants generated nearly $60 million for the county.

The Grant Program Manager's mission is to centralize the efforts between funding agencies, the county departments that administer funds, and the county departments that monitor financial and legal compliance. The Grants Program Manager also connects funding opportunities to relevant projects, advises on and coordinates the grant application process, develops and executes countywide grants programming, and is responsible for executive grants administration on behalf of the County Judge. Community Engagement

As the Presiding Officer of Fort Bend County, it is critically important to me and our government to understand the needs of our residents throughout the County. Community input is the cornerstone of the decision making process. That is exactly why since January 1, we launched an unprecedented series of Listening Tours throughout every Precinct in Fort Bend to learn about the issues our residents face on a day to day basis. About the Fort Bend County Judge

FORT BEND COUNTY JUDGE KP GEORGE BIO

On January 1, 2019, KP George was elected to serve as Fort Bend County Judge.  As the County's top elected official, Judge George presides over the Commissioners Court, which oversees the County’s more than 3,000 employees and its nearly 500 million-dollar budget. Additionally, Judge George is the Director of the Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management.

Since taking office, Judge George has placed a heavy focus on homeland security and emergency management, transparency in government, youth empowerment, and improving the quality of life for citizens while building resiliency through infrastructure improvements.

Judge George is the first Fort Bend County Judge of South Asian descent. Prior to running for public office, George was a board-certified financial planner in Sugar Land. His passion for education and cultivating leadership in children led to his decision to run for the Fort Bend Independent School District School Board, on which he served two terms from 2014 to 2018.

Under the leadership of Judge George, the county has enjoyed many positives since he first took office in 2019. He has successfully managed COVID-19 testing and vaccination efforts, resulting in Fort Bend County being in the top five of the State’s vaccination rate. Including overseeing the launch of COVID recovery initiatives with the Utility, Rental and Mortgage Assistance program, Childcare Voucher program, Small Business Emergency Grant program, Small Business Mentorship program, We All Eat Texas, and the Get Hired employer incentives to hire program resulting in over $44 million in grants awarded in Fort Bend County.

Additionally, commercial development is thriving with the expansion of Frito Lay, the Amazon fulfillment center, Biotics Research, and many more.

Faith and family are priorities for Judge George. He is married to Sheeba George, they are the proud parents of three children.

As the executive of one of the fastest-growing and ethnically diverse counties in the United States, Judge George believes in caring for those who are vulnerable, creating a climate of hospitality, and making Fort Bend County a place of opportunity for everyone.
