Chief Deputy Robert L. Van Pelt Sr. began his career in law enforcement in 1979 with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office. During his career with the sheriff’s office he worked his way up through the ranks and at the time of his retirement in May of 2013 he held the rank of major and was part of the Sheriff’s Executive Command Staff. In January of 2017 he began his employment with the Fort Bend County Constable's Office, Precinct 3, and serves in the capacity of Chief Deputy. Chief Deputy Van Pelt is a graduate of the FBI National Academy and holds a Masters Degree in Criminal Justice Management from Sam Houston State University and a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from South Texas College of Law.
