February is Heart Health Month, and we're excited to kick off a special “Fort Bend Has Heart” County Department Competition to promote heart health awareness. Your heart is the powerhouse of your body, and taking care of it is crucial for a happy and healthy life. So, let's come together to make heart health a priority!
We encourage each of you to participate in the "Fort Bend Has Heart County Department" competition. Here's how you can get involved:
Send your pictures, ideas, and team details to FBC.Judge@fortbendcountytx.gov throughout the month of February. We'll compile all entries and announce the winners during our Fort Bend County Heart Health Month celebration on Thursday, February 15, 2024.

An Arctic blast is predicted to head to the Houston area as early as Monday. This arctic blast has the potential to produce sleet, ice, and snow for parts of Texas. Judge George held a press conference on Friday, January 12, at the Office of Homeland Security, 307 Fort Street at 12 noon to better inform and prepare residents for the potential threat, location of warming centers, and recommended safety precautions.

2024 Gumbo Cook-Off – Sunday, February 18, 2024
$25 Entry fee per gumbo team
(registration limited to the first 10 teams)
Calling all gumbo teams, we are looking for the best to enter our Fort Bend County & NAACP Missouri City & Vicinity Gumbo Cook-off. The Gumbo Cook-off will feature a People’s Choice award along with winners selected by a panel of judges. Each team will be given a cooking area; all teams are responsible for bringing their own supplies for cooking. Sampling cups, napkins, and judges’ sampling cups will be provided. There will be Trophies and Cash prizes for 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place.
