About

Project Lifesaver is a program for individuals with cognitive disabilities such as autism, dementia, Alzheimer's, or traumatic brain injury who have a history of wandering from home. The Fort Bend County Constable Precinct Four Office program is a collaboration with Project Lifesaver International (PLI), a non-profit that was established in 1999 that locates individuals gone wandering. PLI is widely used throughout the United States.

PLI is in a constant state of research and development to ensure the latest and most effective technologies are being utilized by the program both in the prevention of wandering and the recovery of a client in the event of elopement.

PLI has strategically designed methods and techniques for the specific use of recovering individuals with a cognitive condition. When applied by first responders these innovative strategies enable the most efficient rescue of an eloped client.

PLI provides first responders with a basic understanding of cognitive conditions, giving them the necessary tools needed to respond to an elopement and to assess and effectively manage the safe and comfortable return of an eloped client.

 

Fort Bend County Constable Precinct 4 Office Project LifeSaver

Fort Bend County Constable Precinct 4 Project Lifesaver Program is designed to support families and caregivers of individuals who are prone to wandering due to cognitive disorders. Our mission is to bring loved ones home quickly, safely, and effectively.

This program provides a small arm bracelet to a person who has a history of wandering or may be prone to wandering caused by a cognitive disorder such as Autism, Alzheimer's, Dementia Disorder, Intellectual Disability Disorders (IDD), Traumatic Brain Injury, etc. Fort Bend County Constable Precinct Four Office Deputies are trained and equipped with a receiver device to aid in locating the person (client) if they go missing. If you fear for the safety of your loved one due to their wandering tendencies, and you want peace of mind, please review the criteria below that would qualify your loved one to participate in the Fort Bend County Constable Precinct Four Office Project Lifesaver Program.

  • The Client MUST live within Fort Bend County (The Project Lifesaver Coordinator can verify this for you).
  • The Client MUST have a diagnosis of a cognitive disorder (Autism, Alzheimer's, Dementia Disorder, Intellectual Disability Disorders (IDD), Traumatic Brain Injury, etc.).
  • The Client MUST NOT be allowed to drive an automobile of any kind, at any time.
