The Sheriff's Office is responsible for the law enforcement of livestock by statute. There are four deputies assigned to the Livestock Unit with a combined 69-years of experience. Their responsibilities revolve around the enforcement of livestock laws, neglect, cruelty and abandonment of livestock or estrays.

These deputies develop and maintain a working relationship with stock owners and local farmers in the county. They assist in various issues of both rural and urban areas of Fort Bend County. They also work with neighboring / adjacent counties' Livestock Deputies along with the Houston SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) in their investigations.
Under the Agricultural Code, Chapter 142, Section 142.013, impounded livestock will be sold at public auction on the date posted on the Notice Of Estray, which is published on this web site.
