Honorable Tameika Carter, Judge

The Honorable Tameika Carter was elected as presiding Judge of the 400th District Court on November 3, 2020. Judge Carter currently serves as the Local Administrative District Judge for Fort Bend County and presides over a weekly Specialty Court docket (S.E.A. Court). Judge Carter also serves on the Bail Bond Board and serves as Chair of the Courthouse Security Council.

Judge Carter completed her undergraduate studies at Johnson C. Smith University. In 2001 she relocated to Texas to attend Thurgood Marshall School of Law at TSU. After being admitted to the Texas Bar in 2004, Judge Carter selected a career in public service and served as an Assistant District Attorney for the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office, Harris County District Attorney’s Office and eventually the Fort Bend County District Attorney’s Office. During her time as an Assistant District Attorney she gained extensive jury trial experience including prosecuting misdemeanors and complicated felonies. While at the Fort Bend County District Attorney’s Office she was privileged to serve as the Chief of the Mental Health Division where she largely worked on jail diversion for the mentally ill. Judge Carter has also worked in the private sector where she fought to protect the rights of individuals charged with crimes and to help families harmed by the intentional and negligent acts of others.

Judge Carter, a career public servant, believes fair, experienced and impartial Judges are essential to our justice system and is committed to serving the residents of Fort Bend County as the presiding Judge of the 400th District Court.
