Fort Bend County Hazard Mitigation Plan
Reducing Risks and Protecting Our Community
Overview
The Fort Bend County Hazard Mitigation Plan (HMP) is a comprehensive strategy to reduce risks from natural and human-caused hazards and to protect lives, property, the environment, and the community's critical infrastructure. This plan identifies potential hazards, assesses their impacts, and outlines proactive strategies to minimize damage and enhance resilience.
Developed in collaboration with local agencies, community stakeholders, and residents, the HMP reflects our commitment to a safer, more resilient county. By implementing the mitigation measures from the HMP, the county aims to reduce the long-term costs of disasters, protect public safety, and ensure that our communities are better equipped to respond and recover when emergencies occur.
The current Hazard Mitigation Plan (HMP) was approved by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) on November 1, 2024, and will be updated in 2029 to ensure it remains current and effective. We encourage residents, businesses, and organizations to review the plan, understand the risks specific to their area, and take an active role in helping build a safer, more resilient community.
