Fort Bend Wedding Officiant Requirements (what to bring)

All couples must meet and/or present the following on their wedding day:

  1. Valid photo identification. 
  2. An original Texas Marriage License issued at least 72 hours in advance of the ceremony. You may obtain a marriage license through the Fort Bend County Clerk, located at 301 Jackson St, Richmond, Texas 77469. Learn More about obtaining a marriage license from the Fort Bend County Clerk's Office
  3. In some cases, an Application for Waiver of the Seventy-Two Hour Waiting Period.
  4. The ceremony must be performed within ninety (90) days of the date your marriage license is issued.

 

Courthouse Wedding Ceremony Location (Richmond, Texas) and Arrival Time

Wedding ceremonies are performed during normal business hours at the Fort Bend County Justice Center, 1422 Eugene Heimann Circle, Richmond, Texas 77469, in Courtroom 2-C, County Court at Law No. 1.

On many occasions, the Judge will officiate weddings outside the courthouse.  These must be scheduled well in advance. Please contact Sarah.Toler@fortbendcountytx.gov for the Judge’s availability.

Please arrive 10 minutes prior to your scheduled ceremony time. Late arrivals may result in a delayed start time or rescheduling.

 

Fort Bend Wedding Officiant FAQs

Yes. Courthouse wedding ceremonies are performed during normal business hours at the Fort Bend County Justice Center, Courtroom 2-C, by appointment only.

No. The Judge can only perform the ceremony in English.

No. Decorations are not allowed in the courtroom, and the Court does not allow bird seed or other items to be tossed after the ceremony.

Yes. Photography and video are welcome and encouraged. The Court allows up to 15 minutes after the ceremony for pictures.

No. Wedding ceremonies are performed by appointment only due to the court schedule.
