James Burger, Major

James Burger is the Commander of the Professional Development Division. A highly respected law enforcement professional, Major James Burger has served Fort Bend County with the Sheriff’s Office since 1985. Major Burger has held several positions within the Sheriff’s Office such as Lieutenant over the Internal Affairs Division, Captain over the Training Academy, and Captain over the Criminal Investigations Division. Major James Burger is a graduate of the 215th session of the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) National Academy at Quantico, Virginia. He is a certified Master Peace Officer and Law Enforcement Instructor from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and Education. Major James Burger’s ability to maintain accountability, while motivating excellence has earned him the trust of fellow law enforcement professionals of all ranks and divisions. His leadership skills make him the perfect choice for Major of the Professional Development Division.
