Scott Soland has recently begun his new role as Captain of Jail Operations for the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office, bringing over 30 years of distinguished law enforcement experience to this leadership position. Since joining the department in 1992, Soland has served in various high-impact roles including Patrol Commander, Regional SWAT Commander, Crisis Intervention Team Coordinator and Lieutenant of Jail Medical Services.
He played a key role in developing and implementing the Fort Bend County Regional SWAT Team, the Fort Bend County Crisis Intervention Team and Most recently the Jail’s Justice Readiness Initiative, a groundbreaking medication management program that significantly reduces the incarceration times for inmates deemed Incompetent to Stand Trial.
A U.S. Army veteran and graduate of the FBI National Academy, Captain Soland is known for blending operational command with a strong commitment to mental health, officer safety and public safety. He has trained over 4,000 peace officers across Texas in mental health strategies and thousands more in Patrol, ALERRT and SWAT tactics. He serves on several high-level advisory boards, including the Judicial Commission on Mental Health and the Texas Supreme Court’s Legislative Research Committee.
Soland’s work has earned statewide and national recognition, including the Isensee Foundation’s Lifetime Achievement Award and the International CIT Association’s Correctional Officer of the Year. He looks forward to applying his experience to support the continued growth and improvement of jail operations.
