Reserve Division
Ozzie Bayazitoglu is the Chief Deputy of the Reserve Division for the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office. He and the senior officers of the Reserve Division oversee a group of approximately 50 volunteer deputies that supplement other divisions across the Sheriff’s Office, including Patrol, Criminal Investigations, Community Services, Firearms, Emergency Operations, and Detention. The Reserve Division also handles a significant number of self-managed assignments and initiatives. Chief Bayazitoglu and the Reserve Division report to Major Hines.
Chief Bayazitoglu (most just call him “Ozzie”) joined the Fort Bend Sheriff’s Office on January 1, 2013. Prior to joining the Sheriff’s Office, Ozzie served as a Lieutenant deputy constable over the reserve division of the Fort Bend Precinct 4 Constable’s Office, where he worked with then Constable Troy Nehls and then Chief Chad Norvell to construct an organized and proficient reserve division, which grew from a few deputies to 20 active volunteers.
Ozzie’s full-time employment is as an Associate General Counsel with AIG Investments, the group within AIG that manages the investment portfolios and financial assets of AIG and AIG-affiliate insurance companies, where he focuses on capital markets investments, derivatives transactions, money-market instruments, institutional finance agreements, and regulatory matters related to managing insurance company investments. Prior to joining AIG, he worked as an attorney with the Business & International section of the law firm of Vinson & Elkins LLP.
Ozzie’s formal education includes a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematical Economic Analysis and a Master of Statistics from Rice University, a Master of Arts in Economics from the Johns Hopkins University, and a J.D from the University of Houston, where he served as an editor on the Houston Law Review and graduated in the top five percent of his class. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas and a Fellow with the American College of Investment Counsel. Ozzie has appeared on several legal education panels in New York and Chicago, teaching on subjects relevant to finance and investments. He holds a Master Peace Officer certification and is an honor graduate of the University of Houston-Downtown peace officer academy.
